• Question: do you think it is possible to make a robot with feelings and thoughts? I dont think its our time to do that kind of advanced technology plus I dont believe in a machine with feelings or thoughts but if I actually seen one I would change my mind

This is a tough question, one which alot of people are interested in

Have you ever heard of the Turin test? This test essentially comes down to if somebody talked to a robot but didn’t know they were a robot would they notice? Would they figure it out?

I certainly think it is possible to design and build a robot that appeared to be human with feelings and thoughts. However if a robot is displaying feelings and thoughts does that not mean they have them?

What’s more worrying is that intelligent robots would probably figure out that we react to displays of emotion and most likely use them to manipulate us in to doing what they want us to do or into thinking that they do have feelings when they actually don’t. I think you will see a very convincing robot in your lifetime.

It is a very interesting philosophical question.

So personally, I don’t believe that people have a soul, so everything we think and feel comes from our brains in a set of very complex processes that we don’t fully understand yet. In that way, we are kind of like a machine, just very, very complex.

If we can get to understand our brains more, and wire a robot in the very same way, so they are making thoughts and feelings just as we do, are these human brains? Should they have rights, even though we made them artificially? Would it be cruel to make them have bad thoughts and feelings?

I don’t have good answers to those ethical questions, and it can be a matter of opinion. I’d be interested to hear what you think if you want to comment?
