Not necessarily, a doctor would only get sacked if they used the wrong results to make a clinical decision and by wrong results I mean the doctor looked at the wrong patient or something like that. That’s because it was the doctor’s mistake it was their fault.

Blood tests are carried out by biomedical scientists in a lab somewhere usually at your local hospital. These scientists are the ones who are responsible to do the test right and make sure they give the doctor the right result. If the test is not performed correctly it is considered their fault not the doctors.

Now there is also a chance that the test gives the wrong result even know it was done correctly. This can either be a false positive or a false negative. In that case it is not anybody’s fault that the test gave the wrong result, no test is perfect they all have a margin for error but if the doctor was concerned they would usually ask for the test again.

As Thomas said, a doctor would only be in trouble if they responded to the blood test result in the wrong way. So if the results of the blood test said, for example, that a medicine might be dangerous for a patient, but the doctor used it anyway, that would be something that a doctor should be responsible for and punished for. Otherwise, whether it was the lab that made a mistake, or a fluke bad result, the doctor doesn’t have any control over that and can’t really be held responsible.
