I like biological systems. They’re so complex and relatively little is known about them. I remember hearing a radio program once with a great cosmologist. The interviewer asked him how he gets his head around how enormous and complex the universe is (which he tries to model). He said a few simple rules can describe the scale of the universe, but what he finds mind blowing is that we’re still trying to understand our own bodies, which are really complex. I thought that was really amazing – we know huge areas of the universe pretty well, but the bodies that we live in are still a bit of a mystery!
